Catchin' Rays: A Megacollection
This collection was designed using Adobe Illustrator for my Fashion Technology II class. Though not required, I decided to challenge myself by combining three different assignments to create a cohesive collection for a perfect day in the sand or chilling poolside at an all-inclusive resort. Our first assignment challenged us to design original prints and then create garments that complemented them. The second assignment asked us to design footwear. The third assignment simply asked us to design accessories, allowing us to design whatever our hearts desired. As a result of combining the assignments, I designed a cohesive, fun collection that challenged me to think outside the box to create unique designs that complemented each other!
Assignment 1: Print Design
For this assignment, we had to design four prints: A signature print, a complimentary print, a ditsy print, and a yarn-dye print. (The print page showcases these prints respectively). We then had to design looks for our prints.

I was inspired by the charm of a 'retro' beachwear aesthetic and decided to create a collection that channels the iconic silhouettes of the 1950s and 1960s. I've always had a deep appreciation for the fashion of that era, drawing influence from vintage photographs, the
Barbie movie, and Teen Beach Movie, a nostalgic favorite from my childhood.
Assignment 2: Shoe Design
My inspiration for these designs were seashells, as highlighted in my moodboard. I opted for an iridescent shine for the fabric of the shoes as I thought this same shine would work well on the accessories. Because I designed for a day in the sand or chilling poolside at an all-inclusive resort, I made an array of different shoes. I made mule shoes with a patterned sole I designed to complement the prints. This same design is seen with the platform strap sandals, making use of the large sole as a design space. I also designed pool slides with a padded strip and higher sole, seashell flats, and seashell heels that highlight the shell in the negative space of the heel.
Assignment 3: Accessory Design
For this section, I designed through the lens of a 1950s and 1960s traveler. I first designed cat-eye sunglasses in two colorways, as these were popular during this era. I also incorporated travel essentials typical of the time, such as passport holders and roomy tote bags, to capture both functional and vintage flair.
Fashion Technical Design: Peer Fitting Tech Pack
We were instructed to create a tech pack for our assigned partner's garment and make changes to it based on their preferences. I was assign a romper and had to make multiple adjustments for it to fit her better.
